Graymont Illinois

Nice post. I would have thought the rats would out perform the cats.

I was one of the last cribbers around here. Sold the old Ottawa C wood sheller mounted on a 1942 international truck. Dad paid something like 180$ for it around 1980. Maybe shelled around 150,000 bu thru it, ours,.

For years we fought what we thought was vapor lock. We would halt shelling due to truck surging and dying.

Blow out the fuel lines, maybe work.

Also, the shear pins were wooden (hedge), maybe 4/6/ or/8 pins we had to wittle or drive thru a round hole.Till we used one bolt:>)

Finally we quit cribbing and years later I needed shed space so I sold the pickers and sheller.

Sheller needed gas lines blown out, so I thought, to get it started after so many years.

Dang, broke the "T" gas line under the truck. Here was a kernal of corn , in the gas line.

Thought it was vapor lock all those years.

Brian

edit, a small town near here had a 100,000 bu crib, large land owner with many tenants around the area.
