Its get in the bin or loose it to snow and wind. From now to planting time, corn in the field will dry very little up here, but the stalks get soft in the snow and blizzard winds lay the remaining crop down. Its more profitable to pay to dry corn NOW than to find it all planted and mashed into the mud when the snow leaves about the end of March. Then the only way to harvest is with a herd of cattle and the requires fences most farms don't have anymore.
