As a long time no-tiller, I will say "one size" does not fit all. Due to differences in management styles and abilities, soil types, weather patterns, cropping requirments what works for one operator just possibly could be the "kiss of death" for someone else.
That being said there are many, many people around that have never run nor set up a moldboard plow. Properly used it is amazing what can be done with a well set, well operated moldboard. I put in thousands of feet of terraces, diversions, and waterways with a moldboard.
My soils here respond nicely to chisel plowing and no-tilling, HERE I simply cannot get enough additional yeild to justify the time and cost to operate a moldboard.
