Subject: RE: A little more about moldboard plowing---------

Ab, Canada
I have tried plowing in past but never thought about trying one till this year is my first time I have plowing with 5-16". Main reason I plowing on field is to less disease carry over and turn over trash down to soil. The crop I plowing is canola and the plow does turn over from top of trash down to about 5 to 6 inch down. I can't go any more deeper because of limit topsoil that I has. This field picture is sandy field which is easy to plowing. And the other field is black topsoil and soil is very dry and when I plowing, there is some clumping. I figure rain in fall will soak clumping and freeze in winter. By time in spring it should be brittle or breaking apart clumping. I has one big rock that break plow kicker spring. I has to replace kicker spring.
Also trash turn down to bottom may bring some nitrogen. It will be interesting in next year. I am plowing use only for canola crop.
