Subject: RE: 385 kilbros wagon owners alert(lots of pics)

Bourbon,Indiana
Sdpete:  I understand that. Tires were at about 75 psi which gave a pretty good squat as they are radial. But we used the old 10x20's for more than 12 years in the same conditions with no trouble at all. This is what is leading me to suspect the tire width being the cause. After adding the 385's, I could tell how much friction it added. When hooking up empty wagons that particular wagon became much harder to turn manually to put the pin in. So adding a full load of down pressure to the added surface area (friction), I believe transferred too much twisting to the hub flange. That along with forward inertia being turned in another direction (shear) was just too much for the hub to bear. Keep in mind we have another kilbros, same model same setup with the 10x20's still on it and have had no troubles with it. Yet!
