Purchased this 385/1386 wagon/gear new in 1993. Always hated the 10x20 tires, as they have a tendency to sink and are hard to pull out of the field. So about 4 years ago, I replaced them with 385-xx-22.5"s. Just like the newer version kilbros have. I love them! My life has been much easier not having to worry about where I park the wagons, or having to get another tractor to pull out stuck ones.

   Then last year a neighbor was helping me haul corn and when turning into the drive to the left, the right 8bolt hub stud flange snapped off. It was a full wagon 400+bu, with another 375+ bu hooked tandem to the back. There was a little bump right where the hub gave out so I just figured the neighbor was ramming a little bit, and hit the bump too hard & fast.

   Now, two days ago, I was pulling a load of beans,out of the field onto the road. It was mostly level, not rough, but I was making a 90 degree turn. I was going fairly slow as this was my last load for the day, and in no hurry. Right as I was turning I heard a pop, and hit the brakes. I was smack dab in the middle of the road turning right, when the left hub gave this time. That was fun!

   So my theory, that when loaded, and turning, the hub away from the turn cannot handle the extra torque generated from a wider tire grabbing more friction from the ground. In the pictures I'm adding, you will see that there are no obvious stress cracks, but a clean fresh break.

  I called kilbros support, yet they have not heard of this happening,. To their credit, they asked for me to send pictures for them to look at. I guess I will be putting the old 10x20's back on. I just wanted to warn those of you with kilbros 13 ton gears and wide tires to watch out! The hubs are the same from 1386-1396 gears with no updates ( according to kilbros support)!

   Has this happened to any of you, or am I just lucky?
