#1 The figure I have been using for corn P removal is .43lb/bu. That would make a 150bu removal rate of 64.5 lbs. Pretty far from 35. I know there are many different removal rate theories out there, I was using one from University of Illinois. I've seen .37 from Purdue, .39 from Wisconsin, etc. My soil tests have not indicated an appreciable increase in P levels.
I think I need to learn a very profitable lesson here.
#2 Could the soil samples indicating high levels of P&K be from sampling the band and not including cores from outside the band?
If I can save big $ on high $$ fertilizer I'm all for it. Just don't want to mine it and end up with decreasing levels. | |
