Ted, I was re-reading the manuel and discovered my error, thanks to your suggestion that I had selected the incorrect valve type. During the initial set-up I mistakenly slipped past the valve selection type, but during the vale cal, I selected the PWM. This am went back to the start and caught my error and now everything is working as usual.
