SE MN | That's about what happened with our shed. Real carefull to go around it for a while, but one lapse and it gets broke off. Dad made a tube set in concrete at ground level that accepts a flat cap or a T shaped piece of steel that does the job of the original bracket. It works fine but fills up with water and freezes in the winter. I would recommend some king of drainage if you were going that route.
