We calibrate our AFS monitor according to the book, we have a scale on our grain cart so it only takes a few minutes and then once every day or two we will check a hopper load against the grain cart scale to be sure the monitor is still accurate.  A yield monitor can be very accurate but it's only as good as it's calibrated for.  Around here the Ag Leader monitors seem to stay calibrated better than the other brands do.
