Subject: Re: calibrating yield monitors

Camrose, Alberta
I weighed mine 3 times and averaged the three calibration numbers. I have in the past (before mapping) just filled the hopper to the max, about 300 bushels and calibrated that way, but it was 5-10% out. With the JD system, Apex software will allow you to update the calibrations after the season is complete (ie. for those areas you combined while calibrating). This is nice so you can really get accurate with your yield maps.

I don't think you would have to re-calibrate every season for the same crop, but I don't know for sure.

What is the reason for different speeds? I know mine has a low flow calibration for light crops or when your not picking up a full header width.

You definetly want to keep the impact plate clean. If your taking in some green weeds with the crop, it can build up on and behind the plate throwing out the accuracy. I checked mine daily if I was running in a messy field, otherwise every 50 hours.
