It does work a little different. No cell phone on the base station side. The base station is connected to a computer in the office. There is only one cell phone per tractor. You can connect 25+ tractors per base station. The cell phone on the tractor calls the base station. The cell phone can be used to call a RTK network like the Continiously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network (where available) or a regular Trimble base station can be used. Any grower who owns a Trimble base station can be setup with the phone system. (Cell phone wireless coverage required in all fields.) It is far more convenient than using a mobile base station or even a permanent base station with radio.
