| I tend to be fiscally conservative as well, unless it makes my life a lot easier. The real question is can I make do with the 4430. And, the answer is yes. I have had a few offers on that tractor that I have turned down in the past. I really don't need to replace it. If I do replace it the 4440 can easily fill the gap. It is, however, very convenient to have a spare tractor around especially when one is 5 miles up the road. That is why I struggle to get rid of it.
I really don't understand where you are going with the "borrowing money" thing. If I had the cash, and the interest rate was attractive, I would still borrow the money. That has nothing to do with the original question posed. Every tractor needs to be replaced at some point. I wouldn't consider upgrading a 4430 in 2008 to be a "plunge."
The "flush with cash" comment is obviously a jab.
