Subject: Re: Replacing 4430

N/E Iowa
We replaced our 4440 with a 7800 2 wheel drive. I like the tractor, but It's a power shift and it jerky in a couple of different gear ranges, It's the worst going from 17th to 18th. Other than that it's a nice tractor. 168 hp, cab comfort is much better than the 4440, along with the lights are much better. Pulls a 22.9 J.D. disk, two Brent 544 wagons, round bale hay with it, and blow snow with it..

I was like you, had the 4440 since it was new, and it didn't owe us nothing, It was a GOOD tractor that was always shedded, washed, and waxed twice a year, and the oil changed every 100 hours.. But we got out of it about what we payed for it new in 1980.

I would look for a 7700, or 7800. Can't go wrong with either. Make sure you drive them both (power shift or Quad range) to make sure it's what your most comfortable in!!
