Subject: Product value

Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!)

Seller Offering Price = Buyer Accepting Price = Product's Market Value

Anything is worth what any two people involved in the transaction establish it to be worth. If somebody offers Headline at $238 per gallon and somebody is there to buy it, they have established the value of Headline to them at that point in time. Otherwise, seller has a choice of keeping the price the same, going up, or going down in price; buyer has the option of buying that then and there, making a counter offer, or buying something else.

Imagine the following:

  • "Wheat was selling for $4.50 when I put it in the bin, and with interest and storage I have about $5.50 in it now. Give me $6 and I am happy, no matter what CBOT says it's worth."
  • "Crude oil was $70 per barrel when I bought that last batch. Even though it's selling for $104 today, I only have $70 in that same oil. I only want you to pay me $85 for it today."

It's the same thing whether we are talking about fertilizer or other things we buy. Yes, there are some greedy people out here, and we have the option of patronizing them or not.
