| Does your Dodge go into 5th gear? I am sure you have an automatic. One reason I am getting such horrible economy is it hardly ever is in 5th gear. I just talked to the dealer yesterday and they said the problem is it is running on 4 cylinders at my normal cruising speed, and the computer will not let it shift into fifth running on 4 cylinders at this speed. Maybe the older ones that ran on 8 cylinders all the time didn't have this problem, and actually got better economy. The 08 model has had something changed and will run in 5th gear at 60 mph. If I run 70-75, it will go into 5th but this is not practical from either a fuel economy standpoint nor a legal standpoint. The frustrating thing is the 08 vehicles have been fixed and will go into 5th at 60 mph. I think Chrysler should either give me a new pickup or change whatever it takes to upgrade this pickup to utilize 5th gear in the transmission. | |
