When they go, they GO. Doesn't matter if they're powered or not. They going, NOW. Drop the blade and dig. You want the ass end going first because if it isn't and a blade corner digs in, as it often will, you then go for a twirl... So now instead of being a big lump of steel sliding down the hill, you're a big lump of steel curling down the hill.... BT/DT, with a high track.
They are probably better in snow generally though as the snow has a bit of a chance to fall out of the chain before ti reaches the sprocket. I've never had a problem with the chain packing tight with snow. Otherwise, snow is hard on chain. The only thing I've seen that's worse is packing a bunker silo which we also do with our D4H...
