Subject: Turns easier up than down

North End I-15
the hill ? when turning a Cat track , pulling the steering lever cuts power to that side leaving the other to power it up the hill. We used to play with a D-6 running a bit too fast down a steep hill Pulling a steering clutch would let it move the opposite direction. Same with a planetary drive swather . Pulling one lever back slowly to the neutral would let it swing the opposite direction . (down hill )
The big planetary drive IHC's had power on both tracks. If you were in high or low range to turn one would either push or pull from one range to the other to turn. It was a trick to learn after running a rubber tired 600 Case . The TD 25 IHC I ran had 5 -12 foot cultivators plus 5 -12' rod weeder's tied behind. The fellow who owned it instructed me to start turning way before I got to a fence corner. It was just too much work to take it all a part to get it out of a fence. :>)
