Here is a clue but I would like to see a study of something closer to the real value of wheat residue without baling.
I don't think the acres are on the high side this year but it is definitely higher than last year when wheat became a cover crop on many farms Mark.

I am more geared up for intensive continous notill production than I am for baling and selling straw.
If you fill the barn I hope you reap the benefits!
I had planned to do it and kind of decided not to now. Straw buyers don't want to lock in at these prices or really any price right now betting straw will be cheaper in a year. I have one young neighbor with an accumulator I have been trying to work with but just can't get a price good enough to lock that deal in. And I am hesitant knowing the value of the straw versus double cropping.
I could let him bale the whole works and plant the acreage to forage radish for 09 notill corn production, works out good on paper but hard to pass up $13 soybeans. Like you said, long ride till July.
