Good question, Dale, been wondering the same thing.

The nutrient removal would be low for me compared to the value of the residue to feed my soil critters.

I know a cover crop or other crop would help but nothing like raw residue being composted in your soil.

I guess the baler is for sale but like to bale a little straw for my own use and my neighbors. There is enough more SRWW around here I probably can buy it cheaper than the value to my soil, especially considering labor, fuel, and machinery.

A few years though and the grandkids will have to have something to do in the summer besides going to King's Island. LOL
