P is equivalent to P2O5
K is equvalent to K2O
When you see a fertilizer recommendation, it too is given in the equivalent to that at least most of the time..
People are sloppy in how they speak so they will just say NPK but they generally mean the equivalents.
In order to try and get away from the confusion people introduce the word actual. Like I put on 50 lbs of actual N. That doesn't help at all because you find people will use it both to mean the pounds of product or the equivalents.
Other nutrients as well are all standardized on a plant available form, not generally the element.
