Subject: Re: Best snowplow truck... Ford or Chevy?

Leesburg, Ohio
I've had a Hiniker 8' on my '01 Chevy 2500HD with 8.1 gas for about 5 years, and like it, no trouble at all so far. Don't plow commercial, just our farm drives, landlords, and neighbors. We just cranked up the torsion bars in the front to reset the frame height, and leave it there all the time. I don't put additional weight in the back, but I have a utility bed loaded with tools, torches, compressor, and fuel tank, and it weighs about 10,000 without the plow, so weight is not an issue for traction.

Son has a new Sno-way. He plows commercially. Had it on two different Duramaxes, and just moved it to a used Ford Powerstroke 350 to keep it off his "good" truck. He knew the Ford since new...close neighbor had it, and just got a new Dodge, and offered it to Evan. He seems to like it so far.

I'm partial to the Chevys, but either one will make a good plow truck, if it's an automatic.
