Humeston, IA | I visited my sister in Ontario in December and visited some local hog producers there. They indicated that a lot of hog operations were liquidating their sows. According to some farm trader magazines they gave us there are plenty of hog farms for sale in SW Ontario these days. The operators we talked to have invested in a processing plant, so they are a bit more immune to the fluctuations of the market than some, so they are staying in for the time being. $30-40/hd losses on hogs are what is being indicated. | |
