If you are talking about a verticle mixer, I usually just leave it on. I've got a supreme verticle, and after you process a silage bale you can't find but small pieces of net maybe 1-2" long. Haven't tried it with any dry hay. On squares, I've been leaving the twine on but cutting all but one before I pick up the bale. It processes it good enough on silage bales you can't identify it in the bunk. Once again, not sure how it would be on dry hay. I do this for both stockers and mama cows. Been doing it this way for probably 5 years.
