We put our first plastic waterer in a year ago and I don't think I'd ever buy another metal one. Almost every metal waterer we've had to replace was because it rusted out so these plastic models should last forever. One thing we've found that seems to help is to set the waterer up on an extra 4" of concrete so the cattle aren't kicking it and manure stays away from it.
