Thumb of Michigan | In our experiance, radish (at least oilseed) doesn't do very well with green competition. However, the cover should keep them alive longer into the fall/early winter. Normal rule of thumb is that it takes 5+ hours of sub 26 degree weather to kill them. We've had them stay viable much colder for longer periods than that, but it was almost always August seeded into small grain stubble.
Like always, I forgot my camera on a trip today. Lots of radish planted after either wheat or pickles on my route today. 3 ft+ tall plants in full bloom. I'll try to get some pics this week if (when) we get rained out. Mike H- you have recent any photos? | |
