| I was like alot of farmers around here that thought 1999 was bad,and it was.We lost a pile of money.But this year is unreal. Inputs have skyrocketed since then with no end in sight.
I,like so many others I've talked to and read about all over this country have said the same thing ,with these new varieties yields can't go below whatever.You pick the crop,someone has said it.I personally thought we could pick a bale of cotton in my area in a "bad year".We've got the yield history to prove it,I thought.
This afternoon Ins. adjustor came out and looked at the sorriest field.He counted pickable bolls,measured their size and figured yield in four different places in the field.I won't print what he came up with.I'll just say it was less than 100 lbs.Last year same field pushed 1100 lbs.
I'm still trying to come to terms with how bad this year is going to be.Hope all have a safe harvest. | |
