First thing is soil test with the right soil test and ask for a fertilizer recommendation for three crops like corn, soybeans and wheat.
Mine are usually 200 bu corn, 70 bu soybeans and 80-100 bu wheat.
Follow that recommendation. If you can't afford the mix, take 10-20% off the recommendation or whatever you can afford. Calls for a pound of Boron, put on 3/4 pound and so on. Make the recommendation fit your budget.
The big thing is lime. If you need lime, spend your money on lime or you are wasting your fertilizer dollar.
Personally I would sell some $5 wheat right now, pour the coal to it, plant to wheat and get this field back in shape as soon as possible.
