Gettysburg, PA | Burn down this fall to let sod break down some and no-till beans in the spring. That old sod is tough to get through and needs some time to break down first. Plus it gets away from a grass on grass rotation (sod to wheat) by disrupting with the broadleaf SB. A good article in last months No-Till Farmer about an Iowa farmer who successfully converts CRP ground. He says his best success is fall burndown of sod and no-till SB in spring. | |
