Morrisburg Ontario | Well lets see.
First off, we have messed around with our specialty rotor. The front half is much the same, however, the rear has Gorden (sp?) bars added, 6 I think. This was done not so much for the straw, but to aid in fines removal in corn. The straw thing was just a big plus. The first 3 sections of concaves were closed with filler plates. Forcing the material to make at least one round. The chopper is set at the lowest speed with the blades lowered (obviously). That is all I can think of at the moment. I know the Gorden bars are the biggest contributor to the straw. Oh, while this doesn't affect the straw, we also took out the lower corn/bean sieves and replaced them with a cereal lower sieve.
I know there are guys that will swear you cannot round bale after a rotor, well I had absolutely no troubles getting a bale started. In fact I found it easier to bale than hay.
