Westphalia Texas [central texas]
How much roughage is the bare minimun for a 1100 lbs cow, Trying to make the winter on the so-called hay we have this year, middle of texas with no rain, have corn trash with a few ears of corn and have milo hay that never was combined, baled at night to keep leaf matter. We are feeding protein by the way of whole cottonseed and lick tubbs. Can also feed liquid feed out of lick wheel tanks, should I start feeding cubes, if so how many lbs per head a day, been feeding cottonseed every other day so all get some , 2 schoops for 3 head, also the calfs have been pulled, Need suggestions on how to make if it don't rain till April. In other words how much roughage to make her gut keep making turds.
