MN | Heat checking gilts is tricky - SWIA has the right advice - take the boar away and bring back. They may not be cycling on the same schedule. Some of the show pig types don't cycle the same or have a super libido (found out the hard way with a set of boars....). Look at the vulvas - are the vulvas really small? If so, they may not have cycled yet. The vulvas will be larger on the gilts that are cycling and will be even larger if they are expressing heat. Look online for some AI advice - there should be a fair amount available. Good luck to the kids! | |
