| If you have not seen them cycle, something to try is to load them in a trailer and move them. We used to save some of our own gilts and we would move them from the finishing floor to another farm for breeding. By doing this, in a couple of days they would cycle. We would skip first cycle and breed on later ones. Also try to keep the boar as far away as possible so when he is brought in to heat check you will get more of a response. Some gilts don't show many signs of heat. Should heat check every day. We had a commercial herd those are the things we did to get gilts bred. Some show pig guys would have other tricks to try. | |
