I plant rye as cover crop, state cost shares seed etc, this past year I chopped and put in a bag made around 240 tons, planted corn behind it, shelled last week averaged 160 bushel to the acre, makes excellent feed,really stretches hay supply, i mix mine with some rough grass hay, plan on making baleage next year if weather cooperates
