Farmington IL | I have been wanting to try this as well. I'm thinking as soon as we finishing chopping corn silage in the fall get out there and drill the rye. Then in the following spring mow and bale it, dry, and then plant a crop of beans right behind that. Not thinking of alot, maybe 40 acres. Will it make good hay if I dont wait for it to get that far along? (hard dough) We will run it into a tmr with other feedstuffs. Also been thinking of drilling some into early harvested corn stalks then about 8 weeks later turning the cows into it but not sure I would get enough growth to justify. | |
