Subject: Need Tips on Bottle Calves Do's Dont's and What to Watch out for

Churubusco, Indiana
Have an offer to get bottle calves for 25 a head but I have never had bottle calves before can someone please help me out? I need to know.

1. What should I look for on young calves (before and after I buy)

2. Is $25 dollars a head a good price on holstein cattle (heifer or steer?)(in the North Eastern Indiana area)

3. What kind of shots will they need (don't think they've had any)

4. What kind of formula should I get and how much per calf (estimate)

5. At what weight should I sell them and should I sell at an auction barn or private buyer.

6. When they go from bottle to bucket what kind of diet should they be on (ie. hay and corn or some type of feed)

7. Anything else you can tell me that I have not thought about
