| Ben, thanks for bringing up highway crossing. If there is pavement involved with paint markings seems like there always has to be one in every bunch that doesn't want to cross. If you have to cross pavement it might be a good idea to bring a bucket of dirt or gravel or some hay to throw over the lines on the middle of the highway.
Highway markings usually weren't a problem when I trailed down the highway as the cattle had about 10 miles to get on the right side. Always tried to keep the cows on the shoulder on one side of the road or at least in one lane to minimize disruption of traffic. If weather allowed we took the alternate "scenic route" through neighbor's pastures and only had to cross the highway, that's when some ornery old cow would balk about crossing. Not necessarily the same one each year either. | |
