I like to get the calves eating creep before weaning . Once again if the calf is eating creep you can run more cows. It works for any size operation . I rotate my pastures also. Do you have some good alfalfa and shelled corn ? When my calves are born they have an area that they can go(tall electric fence) with some 3rd cutting bales for shelter . I put a little creep in pans for them doesn't take long and they are nibbling at the hay and feed . I had to learn to maximize the acres that I had so with a little thought and extra effort I could run more cattle. I am running 25 % more cattle. Creep, rotation, spraying , harrowing cow turds , and early weaning. Works for me . Keep some extra hay for the cows in case of a drought.
