That's right you won't see 500 head of cows in 2+ sections waiting to be AI'd. They will be synchronized in smaller numbers anywhere from half a dozen too maybe 50 or whatever you can handle calving at once. We AI heifers all at once and get around 65% conception, within 1-2 days after AI a clean up bull is put in with them. The most cows we have done at once has been around 40 and they had cidrs. If you were doing hundreds of them you'd have them sorted into their smaller groups ahead of time. We tried for a few years AIing 300-400 head doing heat detection and it is a major PITA and really more trouble than it is worth doing that many all at once. I am sure in a dairy situation it would be a breeze.
