Hoxie, KS, Northwest Kansas
if they are going to do it more than likely they are set up just for AI. like a small feedlot that can seperate them out into smaller groups to watch for riding with heat patches if they are using a heat detect senario (highest probability of taking). or if they they are running a timed AI then they set everyone up to be bred on a certain day like pens 1&2 go on tuesday at 10 am and pens 3&4 go at wednesday at 10 am on so on and so forth. most guys out here that do it can do timed AI of 5-700 head in 2 maybe 3 days with a good AI personel. and their facilities are top notch for implanting the CIDR and giving PG and GrNH shots so that it works fast and smooth. alot of thought goes into design of the corrals before they even begin AI. once the cow is ran through roughly 10-15 days later a clean up is kicked in. i dont know of anyone that takes the time to heat detect a second time for AI mostly because if they spring calve that second round is right during spring planting season of crops.
