Subject: RE: Angus DID what herfys were

New Mexico
not able to accomplish.

They FIXED the nation's cowherd from a maternal genetic base standpoint.

What the Angus HAVE that breeders have NOT been able to screw up is instinctive MATERNAL genetic power.

THAT is the breed's number one trait. MO.

It don't matter if she's to big, to small...whatever.
When she's an Angus or Angus cross she'll be a REAL cow...good udder, instinctively perhaps thee best calf raising thing out there.

Long before my time, about every cow in the West was a herfy.
Lotta cowherds bred up from Longhorns or Corriente using herfy bulls.

Old timers still say when they got all the Mexican bred out of those cows thus more herfy blood....THEN they had cow problems.

In recent times ( by 1970 alot of herfy folks were coming back on those cows with Simmys ) Saler and Simmys come along and have had alot to do with fixing Herfy cows.

Natural color crosses with some decent maternal traits, no weak eye problems, no prolapse issues, and cross breeding fixes udders too.

Deepest breeds of cattle ( most numbers ) on the globe are Brahma, Angus, and Simmys, and or, any / all combinations thereof.
Reasons for the afore are enviro traits and maternal traits.
