One thing to check is to call your local repair place and ask about repairs and parts... We have a Vizio, and about a year ago it wouldn't turn on. Took it in for repair and the power board was bad, $150 and it was fixed. Talking to the repair guy, he said Vizio is pretty good to get parts for, but some of them there are NO replacement parts...and the "high end" brands tend to be worse for getting replacement parts, making you buy a new $700 TV because the $100 part isn't available...

Repair guys also can tell you what brands tend to have problems, and which they never see...
