southern oregon | Yeah, we'll see a rise in food prices at the retail level, blamed on "soaring wheat and corn prices". And that price will never come back down, hence the farmers dramatic loss of food dollar share over the last thirty years. Society has looked to the producer to keep inflation low in the face of gigantic increases in costs for vehicles, equipment, health care,fertilizer and input costs of all kinds, etc., etc. I farm and feed cattle in Oregon, I'm glad to see the prices coming up for the sake of ag. in general. Ag needs to be a stable business, we don't need to be subsidizing society. | |
