Chilliwack BC | We ran 6400 hours on our 5400 from 1973-2005. Ours had the 531 and had around 220 hp. A deere heavy equipment dealer had rad hoses in stock when we needed them. We put the 40 knife duradrum in around 1990. Parts were never difficult to get and I never found them to be too expensive. We bought a 3800 for parts because the infeed is the same. I don't think any part of the engine, hydrostats, drivetrain, or main gearbox were touched over the life of the machine. Our main gearbox supposedly got hot the first year but deere put a pump on it to recirculate to an oil cooler. The hydrostats eventually got weak and it couldn't pull anything anymore, but it spent its whole life pulling wagons and hi-dump and could be expected. We have no complaints about it but $12,000 might be a little high. I've never seen one advertised for more that half that lately. Good luck. | |
