The little I remember about the 5400 and the 4 row chopper head was that it wasn't so much a power issue as the cutter head itself wasn't big enough to handle the 4th row. We used a 3 row for chopping and a 4row for snapping ears. Power was never a issue and they were a very good machine in my opion.
