west central Iowa | Our 5440 has a 404 JD engine, same as some 7700 combines, and some tractors. It will chop a 16 ft straight truck in 6 minutes. I believe you are right about the 619 in 5400. We use a JD 4 row converging head and have more maint. issues with that than the chopper!!
There are a lot of unknowns to a chopper! Is there anyway to rent this unit this fall to run it and see how it works out? I have gone with friends to look at 5400's and most have been well used!
