Up here in the frozen tundra I have corn and beans that are far better than any I have ever had in my career for this date. Pops are good, beans are 3 feet tall and setting pods, corn is mostly pollinated...3 weeks or better ahead of "normal". Most of my row crops are on sand, we have had a LOT of rain. Road ditches that are "normally" brown and dormant this time of year have standing water this year. Two weeks of hot and dry would probably be good for the crops-I know it would allow me to get my wheat harvested and the straw baled. We are not even a pimple on the ass of the national crop. I don't normally have much grain to sell-most goes through the dairy cows-I have maybe 20% sold...not gonna sell much more until the season gets closer to a conclusion. Not gonna count my chickens before they hatch. |
