The big advantage with pex is the ability to snake it where ever you need to go without elbows and cutting and measuring. That means fewer fittings needed and fewer possible leak points. I think it's the waive of the future. If you thought you might have other uses for it later you might justify the pex tool or you could resell it on ebay or craigslist when done with the project.

Personally I stay away from CPVC for pressure service. I've have glue joints come apart after 10 years without a leak.
