Cutting corn up here one would be tempted to assume silage was being made.

Tend to address the operation in the field with the implement being used.

Plant corn/beans with a planter. Disc the field with a disc. Drag a field with the drag (many call this a harrow tho). Rip a field with a ripper or plow a field with a plow.

A combine is used to harvest the crop, so you combine what ever crop you are going into. If harvesting on the ear in corn.... you pick it. Corn gets shelled after if comes back out of the crib with a JD/Minnie sheller.
