Subject: Don't have enough range in the house-Help!!

Dalton, OH
Okay, I've figured out I need more range because the signal is not strong enough. Ocassionaly, it will work, but then I lose the signal. The router is in the basement of a 75 year-old house and the receving computer is two floors up on the opposite side of the house. Would a range extender work or the higher output antennaes? Linksys has both, but I sure don't want to drop another $65-100 into this if it won't help. I guess I could always run a wire. What do all of you think?

Thanks,
